Our Vision.

The Spectacle has been created by runners, for runners.

The Spectacle is the brainchild of a CEO and avid ultra runner, a couple of NZ Olympians, a world-class adventure racer, an elite sport administrator and marketing executive, and a current NZ representative runner and coach.

We all came to love running from different backgrounds and run at different levels, but what unites us is our love for the run. Together, we aim to breathe new life into Aotearoa's running community and make running fun for everyone, regardless of where you are in your running journey.

Our vision: To unite the high-octane energy of road racing with the adventure of trail running, and create a unique running festival in the heart of Whakatu - Nelson.

Whether you're a casual jogger or an elite, prefer racing the roads or trails, want the challenge of the mile or 100 mile, we're bringing runners of all levels and backgrounds together to forge new heroes and inspire personal bests.

And to make this an event you’ll never forget, we’re assembling elite milers from around the world to create a spectacle rarely seen in Aotearoa — a chance to witness elite athletes from around the world racing through the streets of Nelson.
